Russell Borland: Partner
Russell is an Executive Coach working primarily in the finance and professional services arena. Coaching assignments have ranged from helping individuals take the ‘step up’ to a senior leadership role in their organisation to working with clients experiencing a high level of personal challenge in their role. Russell holds an ILM level 7 Diploma for Professional Executive Coaches and Leadership Mentors. He is also accredited to use the Myers Briggs (MBTI) psychometric analysis to help clients develop a greater level of insight into their personality and how relationships with others can be enhanced.
Russell was previously at Hymans Robertson LLP for 20 years where he held a number of senior leadership positions including firm-wide Managing Partner. Investing in people and their development was a particular focus in such roles. Outside coaching his interests include his family, reading and the occasional travel trip.
Thomas Chalmers: Partner
Thomas is an Executive Coach specialising in the finance and professional services sectors where he has supported a number of clients in achieving, for example, Director and Partner, within firms such as Deloitte and Ernst & Young. He has also supported many clients in securing Chair and non-executive roles specifically in financial services organisations. His experience spans the Asset Management, Actuarial, Accountancy, Banking, Fiduciary Management and Analyst Professions. As well as 1:1 coaching he is engaged as a Team Coach at Board and Senior Management level, helping teams improve their effectiveness.
A Chartered Banker, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland and Coach U Graduate, his previous careers span 10 years in commercial banking followed by 14 years owner/partner of a multi-award winning seafood business. His interests include his family, marathon running, creative writing and psychology.
Michael Bruntisfield: Associate Consultant
Michael is a seasoned independent fund management industry professional, who has joined Leading Figures to assist in developing its business. In the course of his career, he has had considerable involvement in professional development, both as a mentor to colleagues and those aspiring to a career in fund management, and as a beneficiary of it in many of the teams in which he has worked.
His career in investment management dates back to 1986 when he joined Robert Fleming. He has lived in Canada, Hong Kong and Luxembourg, in addition to London where he is currently based, and his experience encompasses marketing & sales and business management in both traditional and alternative investments, for both large companies and boutiques. He has a portfolio of business and charitable activities, which he pursues in parallel with his personal interests. These include extending the scope of the travels his international career has facilitated, descriptive writing and country life at his German home.
Martin Kearns: Associate Consultant
Martin has over 30 years experience in learning and development, particularly in the financial services industry, in both the UK and abroad. He has significant expertise and experience in training/learning needs analysis, design, development, delivery and most importantly, evaluation. Over recent years he has specialised in developing people’s business, financial and risk management skills for a range of clients including Orange, DHL, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, and the NHS. The creation, development and nurturing of business relationships is central to his approach and negotiation and influencing skills are key elements of what he has to offer.
He has held a number of senior management posts, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, has an honours degree in Financial Services, has held non-executive directorships in both the public and private sectors, and is a published author.
John McCormick: Associate Coach
John is an Executive Coach with extensive experience of helping directors, senior managers and business owners improve their personal and business performance to achieve improved results. He has assisted with career development, sales, presentations and negotiation skills as well as coaching managers for international assignments. He has worked as a team coach with international sales teams, developing their teamwork, sales & negotiating effectiveness.
His experience spans 42 years in international logistics including, more recently, roles as Managing Director, Sales Director and International Human Resources Director. These roles have allowed him to work in over 40 Countries developing relationships, people and business. Interests include family, travel, theatre and socialising.
Jane Welsh: Associate Consultant
Jane has over 30 years of experience working in the investment consulting industry working with institutional clients and researching asset managers across the world and across asset classes. She has led investment teams, worked with investment committees and been a member of executive teams. Jane has experience working with diverse teams, supporting change initiatives and mentoring others. She has a particular interest in inclusion and diversity and the leadership qualities needed to create an inclusive culture in which people from different backgrounds can thrive. She has also helped professionals to develop their presentation skills through role play and feedback and led leadership development programmes for emerging talent.
Other interests include the application of positive psychology for individuals and organisations and also the power of developing self-awareness and mindfulness for personal development and learning. She has an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (Oxford), an MBA (London Business School) and has recently earned an MSc in People and Organisational Development (Sussex). She is also a founder and director of the Diversity Project (an industry-wide initiative with the mission of creating an inclusive culture in the investment and savings industry), a trustee of the Diversity Project charity and sits on an investment committee member for a charity. Outside interests include walking (she has the ambition to walk the coast of England and Wales), family and travelling.
Charlotte White: Associate Coach
Charlotte White is an HR professional with considerable UK and international experience including, most recently, 18 years at a major German insurance company where she held a number of senior and Board-level roles including HR Director for Northern Europe. Prior to this she held other specialised HR and Training management positions in the Finance and Leisure industries.
Her current focus is on her key specialisms of Management Development and Executive Coaching where in addition to providing 1:1 coaching solutions, she offers training to Managers in practical, easy-to-master Coaching techniques. Charlotte is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, is a qualified management trainer and has a diploma from the Academy of Executive Coaching. Her interests include health and fitness, international travel, theatre, cinema and the arts in general.
